Filing of Income Tax Return (for Business Individuals)

Login to Iris Web Portal

  1. Open the FBR Iris portal URL: https://iris.fbr.gov.pk/infosys,  following screen will be displayed:
  1. Enter your Registration No. /CNIC in  “Registration No.” field
  2. Enter your Password(received on email while registration)
  3. Click the Login
  4. After successful login, Iris Dashboard Screen shall appear:

Open Income Tax Return Declaration form

  1. Click Declarationtab on the top left section of the Mega Menu available on Iris dashboard.

2. In Declaration tab, under Forms section, select “114(1) (Return of Income filed voluntarily for complete year)” as shown in the picture below:

3. Click on the above-mentioned Declaration following screen shall appear

4. Click on the Periodbutton and following dialogue shall appear on the same page

5. Enter the relevant tax period for which you want to file the declaration i.e.“2018” in Tax Periodfield and click on search  icon

6. Click Select against the available tax period.

7. System shall open the Income Tax Return declaration form; you can enter the relevant information in input fields.

Fill Income Tax Return Form

Business Details

  1. Click on Business section, if you have any Income / Loss from Business
  2. Click the Manufacturing / Trading Items sub-section and enter the amount in the input fields Total Amount as the screen shown below:
  3. Click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.

4. Click Other Revenues under the Business section, if you have any income from other sources then provide the amount in the input fields.

5. Click on sub-section Management, Administrative, Selling & Financial Expenses, if you have any Profit / Loss from those sources enter the amount in the input field and click on Calculate button on the top right corner of the form.

6. Click on the Inadmissible / Admissible Deductions section and enter the amount in the input fields and click on the Calculate button on the top right corner of the form

7. Click on Adjustments section and enter the amount in the input fields if you have any Income / Loss then click on the Calculate button on the top right corner of the form

8. Click on the sub-section Business Assets / Equity / Liabilities and put the relevant amount in the input fields and click on the Calculate button on the top right corner of the form. After that amount shall populate in the Total Assets and Total Equity / Liabilities fields against the codes 3349 & 3399.

Other Sources

  1. If you have income from any other sources, click Other Sources
  2. Click the Receipts / Deductionsoption under the Other Sources menu as shown below.
  3. Enter your amount of receipts or deductions against the relevant field under Total Amount
  4. Click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.

Tax Chargeable / Payments

  1. Expand the Tax Chargeable / Payments and click on Deductible Allowances section
  2. Provide amount in Total / Inadmissible input fields
  3. Click on Tax Chargeable section and provide the relevant details.
  4. Click Tax Reductions section and provide the relevant details.
  5. Click on the Tax Credits section and provide the relevant details.
  6. Click Adjustable Tax section, you will see the following screen as shown below:

7. Enter the amount in Tax Collected / Deducted input fields in case tax deducted from your profit during the year.

8. Click the “+” icon provided in front of the description so dialogue shall appear asking for relevant details as shown below if you have an adjustable tax on:

  • For Profit on Debt to a Non-Resident u/s 152(2), enter amount against 64050008

9. Enter your IBAN or IBFT number in the Investment field.

10. Enter details e.g. Account Type, Bank, Branch in the Contents field and click OK.

11. The entered details will appear under e.g. Profit on Debt to a Non-Resident u/s 152(2) section as a child entry as shown below:

12. Enter amount in “Receipt / Value” and “Tax Deducted / Collected” against newly added row.

13. Click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.

14. In case you want to delete this row, click on the  icon

15. To add multiple rows in this section, click on the  icon

16. In case you want to adjust the tax deducted by your bank on these sections:

  • Withdrawing cash from the bank against 64100101,
  • Certain banking transaction against 64100201,
  • Banking transactions otherwise than through cash against 64151501 in investment dialogue.
    1. Click on  icon
    2. A dialogue shall appear asking for relevant details as shown below:
    3. Enter your account number or IBAN number in the Investment field.
    4. Enter details e.g. Account Type, Bank, Branch in the Contents field and click OK.
    5. The entered details will appear under Cash withdrawal section as a child entry as shown below:

6. Enter the “Total Receipt / Value” and “Tax Deducted / Collected” against newly added row.

7. Click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.

8. In case you want to delete this row, click on the  icon

9. To add multiple rows in this section, click on the  icon

17. In case you want to adjust the tax deducted on the following sections:

  • For motor vehicle registration fee, enter amount against 64100301,
  • For motor vehicle transfer fee, enter amount against 64100302,
  • For motor vehicle sale, enter amount against 64100303,
  • For motor vehicle leasing, enter amount against 64100304 in vehicle dialogue.
    1. Click on  icon
    2. A dialogue shall appear asking for vehicle details as shown below:
    3. Enter E&TD Registration No. in Vehicle field.
    4. Provide further details in the Content field and click OK button.
    5. The entered details will appear as a child entry as shown below: 
    6. Enter the “Total Receipt / Value” and “Tax Deducted / Collected” against newly added row.
    7. After you have entered all the information, click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.
    8. In case you want to delete this row, click on the  icon
    9. To add multiple rows in this section, click on the  icon

Computations

The computations screen displays the calculations of the details that you have filled in the form.

  1. Under Tax Chargeable / Paymentsmenu click on Computations. You’ll see the following screen:
  2. Provide the relevant information in the input field in front of WWF against the code 920900
  3. Click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.
  4. After that Payable Income tax shall be displayed in “Demanded Income Tax” and the refundable income tax shall be displayed in “Refundable Income Tax”.

Amortization

Click on the “Amortization” tab and provide the relevant information as the screen shown below:

Depreciation

Click on the “Depreciation” tab and provide the relevant information as the screen shown below:

Minimum Tax

Click on the “Minimum Tax” tab and enter the required information as the screen shown below:

Option out of PTR

Click on the “Option out of PTR” tab and provide the information as the screen shown below:

Payment

  1. To provide the Payment details of tax deposited in the bank click the “Payment” tab and the screen shall appear as shown below:

2. Click on the Calculatebutton on the top right corner of the form.

3. Click   icon to select the Computerized Payment Receipts (CPR) from the list and the dialogue shall appear:

4. Enter “CPR No. / Amount Code / Paid Amount” in the field and click on search

5. The system shall display only Valid CPRs issued by NBP or SBP.

Attachment

  1. Click the Attachment tab and click  icon to attach the relevant document, the following screen shall appear:
  2. Click  icon to attach the relevant document and click search  icon to select the type of document to be attached
  3. Select the “+Choose File” option and attach the relevant document.
  4. Click OK button to save the details.

Attribute

  1. Click Attribute tab the screen shall appear as shown below:
  2. Click the  icon to provide the residence status, type relevant information and click on search  icon or click on the Select link under the action tab from the grid to add the information.

Verification

  1. After providing complete return details, click on Verification tab and the following screen shall appear: 
  2. Your name and registration name shall automatically be populated, if not enter accurate details.
  3. Enter your 4 digit verification pin that has been given to you at the time of registration and click onVerify PIN
  4. Also, you can generate your new PIN CODE from “Change PIN” option provided on top-right of the IRIS home page.

 Saving Income Tax Return

If you are not yet ready to submit correspondence, then you may like to save it for later review. You can do so by clicking on the Save button on the top left corner of the page:

Submit Income Tax Return

  1. In order to submit the Return with the provided details, click on the Submit button on the top of the page:
  2. After clicking alert popup shall appear as shown below if you want to submit now click on the Yes button:

Print Income Tax Return

You may print your Income Tax Return form by clicking on the Print button:

Editing / Changing Saved Income Tax Return

In order to view or change provided details in saved income tax return following the below-mentioned steps:

  1. On Iris dashboard, click on the Draftfolder from the left menu and select Declaration as shown below:
  2. A screen shall appear will all the drafted tasks against Declaration. Select relevant 114(1) (Return of Income filed voluntarily for complete year)form from a right grid of the screen, the selected record will be highlighted as shown in the screen: 
  3. Click on Editbutton on the top left corner.  The form will appear on screen with previously added details if any.
  4. Click the relevant tab in which information needs to be edited.
  5. Select the appropriate option from the left menu to make changes into existing Income Tax return.
