To give explanation on show cause notice received by taxpayer to pay tax not deducted/collected 161 (3), taxpayer should follow these steps:
- Login [1] to IRIS, enter your Registration Number and Password.

- After logging in, you shall land on the main screen.

- The task of notice is placed in the Inbox of tax payer under Recovery.
- Click on task of Show Cause Notice to pay tax not deducted/collected u/s 161(3).

- Click on task from the list to enable View and Reply options.

- Click on view button. System will open the notice in read only.

- Close the View task window and click on Reply button.
- Reply task window will open.

- Click on Select button.
- Contents tab will open. Tax payer can write explanation in contents tab.

- Now open Attachment tab to upload files as evidence with explanation.

- Now click on submit button.
- Explanation will be forwarded to the relevant office for further processing and the task will be placed in the inbox of tax payer.

- Taxpayer can view the submitted explanation in “Completed” folder.
