Providing explanation on Show Cause Notice received to pay tax not deducted / collected u/s 161(3)

To give explanation on show cause notice received by taxpayer to pay tax not deducted/collected 161 (3), taxpayer should follow these steps:

  1. Login [1] to IRIS, enter your Registration Number and Password.
  2. After logging in, you shall land on the main screen.
  3. The task of notice is placed in the Inbox of tax payer under Recovery.
  4. Click on task of Show Cause Notice to pay tax not deducted/collected u/s 161(3).
  5. Click on task from the list to enable View and Reply options.
  6. Click on view button. System will open the notice in read only.
  7. Close the View task window and click on Reply button.
  8. Reply task window will open.
  9. Click on Select button.
  10. Contents tab will open. Tax payer can write explanation in contents tab.
  11. Now open Attachment tab to upload files as evidence with explanation.
  12. Now click on submit button.
  13. Explanation will be forwarded to the relevant office for further processing and the task will be placed in the inbox of tax payer.
  14. Taxpayer can view the submitted explanation in “Completed” folder.
